Say farewell to bland sandwiches this summer! I present to you a fusion of a BLT and an italian sandwich. This will be your go-to for beach days, pool parties, picnics and all your favorite summer activities!
This sandwich is the perfect blend of classic American and vibrant Mediterranean flavors. Imagine perfectly crispy bacon, lettuce, savory salami, tomatoes and that zesty kick of basil pesto. Even though this sandwich is simple and easy to make, it still packs a bunch of flavor and texture!
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread
- 6-8 slices of salami
- 6-8 slices of turkey deli meat
- 4-6 slices of bacon
- 4-6 slices of natural cheddar cheese
- 2-4 romaine leaves
- 1-2 tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of basil pesto
- 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
- Bake the bacon in the oven for 12 minutes at 350F.
- In the meantime, combine the mayonnaise and pesto in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and lightly drizzle with olive oil.
- Toast the bread face side down in a pan on medium heat until lightly browned.
- Slice the tomato and red onion.
Sandwich Assembly
- Spread the mayo and pesto mix on both halves of the bread.
- Add the romaine leaves, turkey, salami, cheese, tomato (and pinch of salt/pepper), red onion and bacon.
Please feel free to make this sandwich completely to your liking. Perhaps you want to add mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar cheese. Not a fan of red onion? Replace it with something else or skip it altogether. All that matters is that you make this scrumptious sandwich as soon as possible!
